The Potteries Pub Preservation Group Community Pub of the Year 2005 has been won by the Bull's Head in St. John's Square, Burslem. There were 41 pubs shortlisted for this year's award, and PPPG members assessed hostelries on quality, range and pricing of beer, internal features, community involvement and licensee's standards.
Licensee Bob Crumpton (front center in picture) and his staff were presented with the coveted wooden plaque on July 9th, following a speech by PPPG Chairman Harold Harper.
The Bull's Head has now won the award for the last two years, a tribute to its fine Titanic beers and its community involvement. Its beer festivals are always very welcome and the pub has never been slow to support the annual Burslem Festival in May. A programme of events at the pub for the rest of 2005 has already been put together as the Bull's Head plans to consolidate on its success. It is a pub which is well-supported by members of PPPG, CAMRA and Burslem History Club. Titanic beers are becoming as synonymous with Stoke-on-Trent as Wright's pies and lobby and can be enjoyed in other local pubs.
