Coachmakers Arms - Hanley
The Coachmakers, an award winning pub, is under threat of demolition, part of the proposed redevelopment of Hanley city centre.
An action group has been formed to campaign to save the Coachmakers, meeting regularly to co-ordinate opposition to the
current proposals.
The current developers proposals can be found at www.eastwestcentre.co.uk/site.
The planning application has been submitted.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council planning committee passed the planning application on Friday 13th February.
The next action group meeting is on Monday 24th August 2009, 8pm at the Coachmakers.
Golden Cup - Hanley
The Golden Cup has been granted listed status by English Heritage.
PPPG submitted a listing application in 2005, but it was initially turned down.
Following support from the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), English Heritage have reviewed the application and have
now granted the listing status, mainly for the outstanding tiled frontage.
Kings Arms - Meir
The Kings Arms has now closed. The local PCT wants to demolish the pub and build a health centre on the site.
The Kings Arms action group, supported by PPPG, submitted a listing application to English Heritage. This has unfortuately
been turned down.
